National Trail Parks and Recreation

No matter what time of year, no matter what age, there is always an organized sport in which to participate. The National Trail Parks and Recreation district offers plenty of opportunities to mingle with residents from across the county, doing things that benefit one's health, as well as one's quality of life. In addition to basketball, baseball, volleyball, tennis, soccer and softball teams, just to name a few of the choices, the NTP&R has also paved a path along the Little Miami Scenic Trail, which has been readily adopted by bicyclists and cross-country skiers, among other outdoor activity enthusiasts.

Splash Zone, located just north of Center City, is another fun, family-oriented site provided by the district. The park district also manages Municipal Stadium, home to many ball games during the summer months, and the Davidson Center, the education center at the site of the Revolutionary War Battle of Pekuwe and the Shawnee village of Pekuwe in George Rogers Clark Park.

There is also a movement to bring dramatic improvements to the National Trail Parks and Recreation's sites throughout the county. The tentative 5-year plan includes a $5 million dollar family ice skating rink and multi-purpose facility, $1.8 million dollars worth of improvements to existing parks in the form of new equipment and lighting, and $200,000 improvements to George Rogers Clark Park and $500,000 of improvements atVeteran's Memorial Park.
